Whole Foods 'Cleanse' Kick-off Workshop: Sunday Sept. 21, 9am - 12:30pm. South Edwardsburgh Community Centre, 24 Sutton Drive, Johnstown.

Join mother-daughter duo Sue Turner and Katie Weststrate for a repeat of this popular workshop, and enhance your understanding of holistic nutrition, whole foods and detoxification!
Katie Weststrate is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and yoga teacher at Ahimsa Naturopathic in Merrickville. Katie's 2.5 hour presentation (with handouts) on detoxification and cleansing will inspire you to start a 2 (optional 3) week whole foods cleanse at home. The workshop will include discussion about the reasons for considering a 'cleanse', the importance of balancing blood sugar and choosing foods to minimize inflammation and maximize metabolism, and how to safely and effectively enhance your body's own detoxification process. You will leave motivated to create change in your life - armed with information, recipes and recommendations to stimulate your body’s natural elimination of toxins and reignite the rejuvenation process.
Benefits of a whole foods cleanse typically include improved mood, energy, metabolism and immune function, healthy weight change and /or decreased inflammation.
Following Katie's presentation Sue will guide participants through a 1 hour gentle yoga session of asanas (postures), pranayama (breath work) and relaxation that supports detoxification.
After the session, participants will continue to receive support, encouragement and inspiration through a series of 4 bi- weekly electronic newsletters. Recommendations for integrating what you've learned into your regular routine at the conclusion of the cleanse period will be provided. Katie is available via e-mail Monday to Friday for the two week cleanse period, to answer any questions that may come up along the way.
What's a "whole" food? It's nutrient dense ... food as nature intended it ... processed or refined as little as possible ... free from additives, preservatives and other artificial substances. Vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, beans, legumes, eggs, fish, poultry, honey and maple syrup are examples of whole foods. (Dairy products, gluten, alcohol, caffeine and refined sugars tend to be inflammatory. Elimination of any or all of these foods during the cleanse period is optional - a personal choice.)
We are grateful to Your Independent Grocer in Prescott and New Horizon Foods in Brockville for their kind and generous support of this workshop!
Your investment: $60 (including HST), may be made by interac e-transfer, cash or cheque, payable to Sue Turner.
Pre-register here by Friday, Sept. 12
