Usui Reiki

The word Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means universal life force energy (Rei - universal; Ki - life force energy). Usui Reiki is a subtle, energy based modality that supports relaxation, healing and personal growth and development. Dating back to the early 1900s, Reiki originated in Japan, by a man named Mikao Usui.
Reiki helps to re-establish a normal energy flow of ki throughout the system, which in turn can enhance and accelerate the body's innate healing ability. Through a series of hand positions either directly on or just above the body, the flow of energy is channeled through the Reiki practitioner to the recipient, going where it is needed. The client lies on a massage table and remains fully clothed at all times. Soothing music, low lighting and peaceful surroundings all contribute to a relaxing experience. It's not uncommon to fall into a state of deep relaxation or sleep during a Reiki session.
The more relaxed, open and receptive the client is to Reiki, the more noticeable the subtle shifts, and expansive the results. Reiki can provide a greater sense of feeling grounded and aligned, stress relief, and healing at physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. Reiki works independently of our belief systems. It complements other treatments or therapies, and is not intended to replace the advice of a licensed medical professional.
Sue was originally drawn to the study and practice of Reiki 20 years ago, and at that time she completed the Third Degree or advanced level training. Yoga Teacher Training rekindled Sue's interest in Reiki; she went on to complete the Master /Teacher level training and become a Registered Practitioner with the Canadian Reiki Association. Chakra balancing and energy clearing are included within the scope of Sue's Reiki practice. Sue is grateful to her teachers, Judy Ward and Cheryl Hiebert.
Sue discovered that Yoga and Reiki are natural complements to each other. Both eastern philosophies, they invite life force energy (called Prana in yoga) into the body, and open pathways for energy to flow more freely. They encourage healing, and coming to a place of stillness, clarity and greater conscious awareness through the union of body, mind and spirit. In synergistic combination, they help us to appreciate each one, and our authentic selves, to a greater degree.

"When I first spoke to Sue, I felt a connection. She suggested we schedule 3 Reiki sessions and I am so thankful we did. Each session built on the previous one, and like the layers of an onion, I began to shed the imbalance that was stalking my life. With each session, doors into my psyche opened and impediments in my life fell away. The sense of peace, confidence and desire to embrace the positives in our lives are an amazing joy. Thank you Sue for the wonderful balance I now feel on a daily basis." ~ S.D., Brockville.
"I have just completed my 3rd Reiki session with Sue & I can't thank her enough for the wonderful experience. Since starting Yoga & Reiki with Sue I feel truly energized. I have learned to open up to new experiences in my life and allow them to happen. I am also learning to welcome in the good & release the negatives in my life. I recommend to everyone that they try Reiki at least once in their lifetime. It brings peace & healing to your mind, body & soul." ~ J.B., Johnstown.
"Reiki with Sue has helped me to train my brain not to get uptight over situations that may be annoying but over which I have no control. I have Reiki sessions with her every 4 - 6 weeks to ensure I do not lose focus and maintain an inner calm. I leave floating on a happy cloud." ~ J.H., Prescott (male).
