Sue Turner (Vayu Devi), E-RYT® 200, RYT® 500, RP-CRA
With a lifelong passion for holistic health and wellness, Sue worked as a Health Promotion Consultant for provincial and national organizations, providing training and education to service providers and community partners across Ontario. Physical activity, healthy eating, healthy weight, environmental health and injury prevention were her areas of focus.
As a student of yoga for more than 15 years, Sue has explored many styles, including Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Kripalu, Kundalini and Anusara. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, and has 1500 hours of teaching experience. Through the Bodhi Tree Yoga Centre in Kemptville, Sue completed 3 teacher training programs: 200 hour Akhanda in 2013, 40 hour Yin in 2015, and 300 hour Hatha in 2020. She has additional training in Restorative yoga through Upward Dog Yoga Studio in Ottawa. Sue is grateful to her many teachers for their guidance and inspiration - Yogrishi Vishvketu, Gayatri Gayle Poapst, Kat Kamalika Mills, Tricya Tyers-Morrice, Gwen Anderson Karuna Mayi, Kathleen Gordon, Tasha Rooke, Melanie Tulsi Allison, Om Shanti Charlebois, and Elizabeth Whissell.
Sue's interest in health and the healing arts led to the study and practice of Usui Reiki, and in 2003 she completed the 3rd Degree, or advanced level training. After 10 years of practice she completed the Master/Teacher level training and became a Registered Practitioner with the Canadian Reiki Association. Sue is thankful for the instruction and guidance passed on to her by Judy Ward and Cheryl Hiebert, Registered Reiki Master Teachers with the Canadian Reiki Association.
Sue is a certified level 2 Urban Poling (Nordic walking) Instructor and an Independent Distributor with Young Living Oils. After using these oils for her personal use for more than 10 years, she introduced them in her offerings for the benefit and enjoyment of her clients.
Sue has organized and facilitated workshops, retreats, and wellness events to build knowledge and awareness, and help empower people to take control over their own health. A Whole Foods Cleanse workshop, a Meditation workshop and 4-class series, 3 Yoga Tune-up Workshops, Women's Wellness Days, semi-annual Retreats, and a Karma Yoga event have been offered in the past.
Sue has volunteered with many organizations, including the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, Prescott Golf Club, and Walker House. Sue is the proud mother of two daughters, and grandmother of five - 4 boys and a girl.
Yoga, Reiki ... and More has been pleased to support several local non-profit / charitable organizations since its inception, including: Spencerville & District Optimist Club, Immigration Partnership of Leeds and Grenville, Leeds and Grenville Interval House, Girls Incorporated of Upper Canada, St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, Maitland Education and Recreation Centre, Spencerville Mill and Museum, and The Ottawa Integrative Cancer Centre Foundation.
